Waitrose Free coffee

Postby CraftsbyCarolyn » Sun Apr 15, 2018 3:45 pm

Did anyone see that they have announced you can only have free coffee if you bring your own cup?

I guess a bit of a pain if you forget to take something, but I am all fro trying to save landfill of literally millions of coffee cups.

52 million a year ! Personally i think it's just part of the plan to stop it altogether as their profits are tumbling sharply so saving the cost of a million cups of coffee every week would seem a logical step .

I'm thinking of binning my waitress loyalty card as I never use Waitrose.

Maybe you could swap it for a disloyalty card?

Not being disloyal just that I'm not a snob.

I agree i can't think why they would give a free coffee, it must eat into profits and not sure that it brings them any more custom.

I go if I need to, and occasionally have coffee, but wouldn't go and spend to get a free coffee. But I am not so keen on the brand they use anyway.

I see that Waitrose are going to have some of their staff trained up by nutritionists so if you can find one you can ask them what the healthy alternative is to the product you usually buy - If they were that concerned about the health of their customers why don't they just stop selling "unhealthy" things ?

Because as long as there's demand for those things, people will complain they can't find them. I can already see the "Nanny State" headline in the Daily Mail ...

Also, having unhealthy things from time to time is not incompatible with improving your overall diet.
