If you want to PM me your address and I will see if I can find anything on it.

I couldn't find anything on a William Wartin marrying in Ampthill district - although there were a few in Bedford - but you unless you buy the certificate you don't know the details.

In the Bedfordshire Archive I recently came across a newspaper cutting that reports the death of 8484 Sergeant William Martin at the Battle of Feuve Chappell on 9 March 1915. William was from Flitwick and his sister [Miss Kate Martin] lived in Ampthill at the time. I wonder if the death plaque came to his sister. Did you every manage to repatriate the plaque with the Martin family?

I did this research before the 1911 census. I can see that he is in the military at this time, and still single - aged 22

says enumeration district is Bermuda and Jamaica

I have a marriage of Ronald Welch to Kathleen G Dolton in last qtr of 1939 in Ampthill

Looks like they had a child Robin A Welch in 1941 so maybe one relative, although just found a christening record for the same names in Kings Langley

ooh I am on a roll now

Robin A Wlech married Sandra Burnage 1966 in Ampthill
