Sorry to hear that. Nice little shop with lots of cookery equipment. Have bought quite a few things in there.
But with Lakeland just down the road in Milton Keynes and who will also deliver on line I can see they are up against stiff competition,
and I am sure the business rates are not getting any cheaper. Shame!
What will be left of the local shops? All we seem to have now
is Estate Agents, Eateries, coffee shops and Charity Shops.
We used to have, 2 Chemists, 4 Butchers, 2/3 Grocery Shops, a Dairy, 1 DIY, 1 Greengrocer, 2 or 3 Clothes shops and you could
buy a pair of knickers or pants and the elastic to go in them!!. A Knitting Wool shop, absolutely full to overflowing with all kinds of wool and patterns. You could get a cup of Coffee in the White Hart, to say nothing of the best Fish and Chips from the Chippy by The Sun pub. In fact you didn't really need to go into Bedford at all.
It was all on your doorstep. They all served a population of around 5/6000 souls.
While nothing stays the same this was all in the 80's - not so long ago for some, but a lifetime for others.

What about Milton Keynes? BHS gone, Food Centre 90% empty after Sainsbury and Waitrose disappeared and soon to be a huge empty unit where House of Fraser once was. If this is happening in fast growing affluent places, imagine what it must be like up north.

Was busy in there today, 20% off everything, and bigger reductions on other things.
