Spelling

Postby sarek7 » Sun Mar 18, 2012 12:30 pm

Whilst sitting behind a corsa at traffic lights yesterday I noticed a sign in the rear window:

"If the music is too loud then your too old"

Not sure if it's the music that makes me old or the fact that the spelling of "you're" made me want to weep.
Firstly for the company that produced said sticker and secondly for the numpty who buys it.

I have seen this so many times - someone produced invitations and proudly showed them on my web site a few years ago with "your invited to....."

someone did point it out!

While we are on this subject, the one that annoys me, is the "should of" instead of "should have".

Another is the apparently random use of the apostrophe - as in potato's etc.

This is from the late Keith Waterhouse: -

If you really want to see some spelling howlers go to Freecycle.org Some are mind boggling.
