three favourite all time songs

Postby groutman » Sat Sep 24, 2016 4:18 pm

If I was asked what my three all time favourite songs were, they would be these (in chronological order): -

The House of The Rising Sun –The Animals

Nights in White Satin – Moody Blues

The Boxer – Simon & Garfunkel.

And in favourite order: -

The Boxer – Simon & Garfunkel.

Nights in White Satin – Moody Blues

The House of The Rising Sun –The Animals

What are yours?

P.S. If I had to add a fourth, it would have to be "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" by Monty Python

P.P.S. There are no wrong answers. ))

Gosh, you are going back a bit with that one! 1970's?
And it is hard to pick three songs that you could bear to listen to time and again.,
Pieces of Music are very different tho'.
These I would choose from film scores:
Out of Africa,
Schindler's List
Saving Private Ryan.

House of the Rising Sun was a hit in 1964 - so I am showing my age!
When I hear the song today, I get the same amount of enjoyment as when I first heard it & that is why it is a classic.

As CraftsbyCarolyn says, because your tastes may change over the years, some songs now sound dated. Others, like Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody were so different to everything else, they will never age.

Three songs that have memories for me and which I play "at the drop of a hat!

Aquarius from Hair
Fly me to the Moon: Frank Sinatra
and
I shall Survive: Gloria Gaynor.

I wonder what that says about me? It certainly dates me that's for sure!!
