AN old pub hopes it now has 'something for everyone' after undergoing a complete makeover of the building.

The Horse and Groom at Clapham, now run by Karen Bray, husband Richard, son Daniel Turner and his wife Marelle, reopened last weekend after a massive 10 week project to refurbish the boozer.

According to Karen, almost everything inside the pub has changed since they took it over, including a new kitchen, cellar, and the addition of several new rooms.

She said: "It has been a very big project. It was basically just a shell before. We moved the cellar to the kitchen and the kitchen to the cellar, expanded the kitchen, built more rooms and that sort of thing.

"My son, who is the executive chef for all our pubs, has been able to design his own kitchen for the second time so he's very lucky in that respect."

The Horse and Groom is one of three pubs Karen and her family own, with the Narrow Boat at Weedon and the Bull at Olney.

It will serve a range of food on its new menu including afternoon and cream teas, a range of sandwiches and your basic ham, egg and chips for those looking for something simple.

She said: "Greene King approached us about the site. Charles Wells couldn't find anything for us backing onto a river which is the kind of place we're interested in.

"We want to make sure we have something for everybody, they can come in for lunch if they're 18 or 80 and there's something on the menu for them which is all fresh and not frozen. We make everything ourselves on site."
