Wrest Park

Postby Sagitar » Fri Aug 19, 2011 10:39 pm

We went to Wrest Park today, for the first time since the re-furbishment.

The weather was good and it was very busy to the point where the entrance and exit arrangement were a bit overwhelmed. I think there is a need for a re-think there.

The new playground for children looks superb. It was well used today and I can imagine that it will remain very popular. We did not try the new cafe. It was just too busy.

The bedding displays close to the house were a bit OTT for me

but the house itself remains really beautiful

and I have never seen the grounds looking better.

those flower beds are certainly bright :)

It all looks lovely, maybe time for me to rejoin the english heritage.

I went around Woburn gardens recently as RHS members can get in free, they are spending money on that to get it back into order.

Been up there a lot, as get in free being English Heritage member.

Cafe is excellent (but very busy at peak times), cakes are really yummy. Exhibition in house very well done, and children's play area great. Special events on for children too, which appear to be enjoyed by all. Shop has some really nice things to sell, including good quality plants. Also no matter how busy it is, you can still find places to walk where you can be alone!

Yes - I am a satisfied customer!! :D
