good piece in the paper this week:

'HE'S been one of my favourite stand-ups for about 10 years. Bloom not only has meticulous, brilliant lines, but also an intense and fragile honesty.'

When you find out Ricky Gervais said this about a comedian who is now coming to Ampthill, you start thinking about how to get a ticket.

Adam Bloom (pictured) has already performed sell-out shows at the Edinburgh Festival and festivals in Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Wellington and Cape Town. He has also written three series of The Problem with Adam Bloom for BBC Radio 4.

And on Friday, May 20 he will be taking to the mic at Parkside Hall, Woburn Street in Ampthill.

He will be joined by Andrew Stanley, who has performed worldwide at the Montreal, Australian and Edinburgh Comedy Festivals. Reviewers praise his 'high energy and quick wit'.

Stephen Cowlin will also be taking to the stage.

Jeremy O'Donnell is back as MC for this. Tickets in advance cost £10, if there are any left on the night they wil be £13.

Doors open at 7.30pm, giving you time to buy your Gloucester Old Spot Gormet Hot Dog - the 'Parkside Porker'. All proceeds go to registered charity Parkside Hall to pay for maintenance and the whole night is run by volunteer
