Fields Of Cabbages

Postby Memory Lane » Wed Feb 16, 2011 12:38 pm

I have just finished a book called Fields Of Cabbages written by Maureen Kerr who grew up in Flitwick between 1939 and 1950. A lovely book telling about her experiences and describing Flitwick as it was then.

I heard about It last year. It was out of print, but I was able to find a good second hand copy on the internet.

I have checked and it is in the loan book stock at both Flitwick and Ampthill Libraries.

A good read.

Thanks for leading me in the direction of this book. Have been lucky enough to find it in the "returns" in Flitwick library this morning.

Do you remember what a terrible stink there often was in the days when we had fields of cabbages (and brussels).
