Mozilla Firefox

Postby groutman » Mon Sep 27, 2010 7:02 pm

My Internet browser is Mozilla Firefox.

When I read a post on the forum, it does not automatically mark it as read (as it does using Internet Explorer).

To make it read as "read", I have to press the "Reload current page" (Refresh) button.

This is not so much a major problem, as a constant irritation.

Does anybody else out there have the same problem, or is there a cure?

I generally use Mozilla and do not have any problems with it marking the posts unread. It behaves the same as IE for me - so not sure what to suggest, it must be a setting somewhere?

Don't use Mozilla unless I'm forced to (if you don't like IE try Opera) - but browser problems are often something to do with which version of the browser you are using. Browsers get developed and often the developers overlook carrying forward some features.

I guess if you are both getting different results on Mozilla it is something to do with versions or maybe settings - so perhaps you both need to identify which version of Mozilla you are using

I am sure mine is up to date - it is always installing the latest version Firefox 3.6.10

Mine is 3.6.10 too.

I have looked at the settings, and cannot find anything specific to this.

I now know at least one other person who has the same problem with his Firefox.

As I said before, it is not a major fault, but just one that is a bit annoying.

I also use 3.6.10. It happily removes the 'flag' from opened posts.

I have just found out how to cure my problem.

Previously, I was using the browser's 'back button to return to the previous menu.

If I use the 'Return to' forum button (at the bottom), then Hey Presto, the thread is marked as read!

Using the former method works on Internet Explorer though.

I am now a happy bunny :)

Thanks Groutman,

I will now use this better procedure as it logs each post as read as soon as it is - rather than at the end of a session. :D
