New Features

Postby ampthilladmin » Sat May 15, 2010 4:12 pm

What you had before should still be here…plus a whole lot more. Having a user control panel is a big change:

User control panel
(click on the words at the top of the forum)

You can see the topics that you are watching (manage subscriptions), I have yet to try bookmarks but it is another way of keeping up with topics.

You can draft things and save them, posts and PMs

You can see all of your attachments

In your profile you can add your birthday so that we will know when it is your birthday, the year is optional!

Board preferences can be set so that you can stop viewing stuff like sig, avatars etc – have a look and see if this is something you are interested in

With the private messages you can PM several people at once, you can select them by using find a member or just type them in then you need to click add [to] and they will come up in the to box…you can also send a blind copy [BCC], which means no one will see you have sent them a copy.

If your in-box is full you will need to delete messages before the new ones appear – it will tell you, you can change this option to delete the oldest message, which is how it used to be.

You can export all of your messages as well. You can also set up some new in boxes with rules

All usergroups are here now and you will see all open groups and any that you are a member.

You can maintain a friends and foes list – friends lists means you can pm them all and their pms are marked etc – not sure what else yet. Foes – means that you can hide their posts and messages!

Polls
When setting up a poll you can choose to allow more than one vote and also whether to allow people to change their mind.

Quotes
You can now quote lots of posts within your post – the posts are displayed below where you make your post – but they all have a quote button now.

Search
The search can return better results - as you can now search within your search - if that makes sense - try it and see

New Icons
There are new style icons that appear next to posts - there is a guide at the bottom of the forum - BUT there are a few more - if there is a star in the icon it means you have made a post within the thread

Email a friend
You can send the post to a friend by clicking the email a friend button just at the top of the post

A link to View new posts now appears at the top of every page.

If you spot a new feature - please share it with everyone

It looks great. Thanks.

I will have to try to find some time to learn to use it properly.

Just come back after two weeks holiday. Have had a busy afternoon reading all the messages that I have missed. Think that I am getting the hang of the new layout.
